Season 11

Because we’re following along with this season of The Biggest Looser, I figured it would be nice to provide a place to talk about what’s happening.

The season premier had some twists and surprises. But the part that got to me the most was at the very beginning. During the first weight-in, Bob said something like … ‘Come on America, haven’t you been listening?”

Well Bob, I am listening!

  1. Yes that was a good point. But some of us have not been listening. And I'm thinking wow! Some of those people have lost 100. lbs and still got 200 lbs or more to go. It's an encouragement yet scary because I don't want to go that far. So I'm going to try harder to listen.

  3. Dave, that is what stuck out to me the most too!! He said something like: "Families need to join together and help each other!!" I totally thought about how cool it would be if ALL the adults in our family joined in on this biggest loser.... how cool would that be!

  4. I just finished watching the second episode of the BL, on Hulu. (if you missed either episode, you can see them there) Wow how inspirational!
The same thing struck me last week about "listening" and families.

The first episode, I watched with my kids all gathered around, and it really made us all think! my 14 year old got up the next morning on his own and did a work out!
I came away from that one thinking two things... , on one side, " I have been so hard on myself." and on the other, I could be standing up there, if I didn't get it under control! At my heaviest, I weighted 215lbs. (a few years ago) and I think of those ladies that weigh in around 250 on the show!
I will have my kids watch this season with me! They are my biggest cheer leaders! and they are so willing to try all the interesting food I am experimenting with! (and if I don't end up liking it, one of them does and says to keep on buying it for him)

  5. Oh yea, did you see Arthur dance on the scale?!? That was so awesome! I want to celebrate like that when I step on a scale!

  6. Yes that made a big impact on me his strong positive attitude and them winning was inspirational. But hey you guys did you see that battle with the donut he had. Made me realize we all have weak moments. It was funny when his favorite donut fell out of the box and he said 5 second rule right? Just one bite. But that one bite would have only hurt him. Sometime I do the same not realizing the damage I do to my self. Yet he stood his ground. Good Job Arthur! You too Dave for putting this together. Thanks.

  7. After the 3rd episode, I really thought it was great to see the "Unknowns" band together to get the one guy (name??) to really kick it into gear and lose weight! I also was so emotional when they were meeting with Dr. H! What would you do if you know the date you were going to die was only 12 years away! Holy Cow! I loved how he said that on that day they will have a huge celebration!
That would really make me think!!
I'm not even commenting on the weight gain, that is just unfathomable! I feel bad for the guy who stayed because he's really going to get put through the ringer over it!

  8. I was shocked by the +9 weight gain of both twins. My first thought when they showed the weight was, "what? the scale must be reading wrong," then realized what it meant. The guy who went home really looks great now and it seems like he needed to do his weightloss at home more than on the ranch because he missed his family so much. I bet the other twin won't last much longer on the ranch either - that's just my prediction.

  9. I agree about the other twin not lasting much longer. He's going to have a great time in the gym this week!

The one thing I wish they would have done though was give us the recipes for the meal they made with Crutis Stone. I'm gona' have to look for those!

It was great to see more of the unknowns. I'm looking forward to seeing them all on the ranch.

  10. Awesome biggest loser show. Nice to see the changes in 4 weeks. But omgosh what's up with the "unknowns" all losing double digits? Please share what you think. Is it the boxing? WoW!

  11. I'm sure the boxing is part of it Connie but weight loss has to have a balance as Bob said in thought, food choices, and exercise. We really only get a glimpse of what they are really doing there.

  12. Oh, one more thing. I think if I had a trainer that was barking and screaming at me during my workouts I would not make it. I need more of a cheerleader! :-)

  13. I'm convinced that most of weight loss is a change in diet. I wish they'd show a lot more about what they're eating. Exercise is very important too, but you know those contestants are in the gym with trainers and when the scale doesn't reflect it, there's only one explanation. :) Maybe they're juts holding out on us because they want us to buy a cook book! :P

  14. I've decided that I'm not going for a "Big Week" of weight loss. Any week that I loose is a GOOD WEEK! For me, consistency is much more important because I'm not on campus and I'm changing my lifestyle and habits. I want the change to stick.

They say it takes 21 days of consistent practice to form a new habit (or break an old one) so I'm working on a few at a time and trying to make them last.

  15. I watched this week and all I can say is drama, drama, drama. I want to know more of what they are eating and doing as far as time they spend working out without the product push. I think the producers just like the drama. Sacrificial lambs or goats....whatever!

  16. Biggest loser black team is on a role. They are all encouraging. I agree on the showing more of foods and less drama. But again I saw the fear and tears on Arthur this week and what a great job losing 20lbs. But I have to agree with Dave I just want to lose and does not have to be a big number as long as I lose. Overall the show was encouraging. And it proves that you don't have to have a GYM to work out or lose weight. JUST MOVE!

  17. I was a little disappointed last week when the Black team decided to use a strategic defense for the younger players, rather than fighting for it like Moses and Kaylee did. They Rocked It last week! I did love it when Kaylee and Cara got in the ring and boxed. That was pretty cool.

I'm looking forward to a good episode tonight :)

  18. It really hit me when one of the players said something like when I say no (to the food not so good for her) I say yes to me. Sometimes my thinking makes me feel like I'm deprived or will make someone feel bad if I don't try something they have fixed. I'm going to try to do more "yes" to me. :-)

  19. Last week was a shock and a bit of a dissapointment that Arthur was sent home... but all in all, he is doing it on his own and that has to make him feel even better! I can't wait to see him at the finale!! Can't wait to watch tonights! :)

  20. I love seeing the before picture at the weigh-in. It’s amazing how much all the players have changed. And the whole “get up every time your knocked down” with Cara and the yelling “I’m a fighter” in each others faces was cool.

It was nice to see a little more about what and how they eat this week. And I posted Ken’s Chili Recipe on the Recipes page for all of you to try. I think I’ll leave out some of the actual Chili powder but I like that it has some Fajita seasoning in it. Sounds yummy, and its only 150 calories per serving/cup!

The eliminations are always so hard for them but then to see how well Sarah (and Arthur last week) did at home is awesome!

  21. This week’s episode was a little crazy with the mixed up teams and all. But I think they actually turned out pretty fair and I love that Jay got to come back! But I don’t like it when the players get caught up in the game play instead of just focusing on their ultimate goal. It was sad to see Ken upset about losing 7 lbs. I don’t think I appreciate just how difficult it is to be away from home for so long though. So the question is, who will take Justin’s place as the leader on campus?

  22. Makeover week was fantastic! the five remaining players looks so great. I didn't particularly like the blonde bangs on one of the sisters though, I think she looks better with her bangs pulled back, the blonde is nice though.

  23. Makeover week is so fun! I can't believe we're down to just 5 contestants left. And no eliminations this week. Does that mean there will be a double elimination next week? Maybe they were able to do that because Rulon left.

I'm just glad we aren't doing eliminations in our little challenge :)
